WARDA, Stanley John –
Peacefully at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital, on Monday April 11, 2022, at 5:25 am, surrounded in love by his wife of almost 64 years, Jean (Korczak) and his two daughters Angela (Adam Biskup) and Suzanne (Michael Papuga), the angels guided Stanley John to eternal paradise.
Stanley is predeceased by his in-laws, Wojciech and Agata Korczak, sister-in-law Margaret (Frank Jasinski), and brothers-in-law John (Pauline), Casey (Jenny & Eva), Charles (Mary), Henry (Stella & Eileen) Korczak.
A man of great faith who was raised in the community of St. Stanislaus Church in Hamilton, he started as a mischievous altar server, went on to coach CYO basketball, grew up to be a respected usher and later became a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Stanley grew up down the street from Ivor Wynn Stadium, and became a huge Hamilton Tiger Cats fan, or as he liked to call them, “my pussycats”. As a child, Stanley learned to play the accordion and continued playing and entertaining family and friends till the end. Basketball was another passion that he played, coached, and refereed. Many of these adventures involved his younger brother Edward Warda (Sharon Elliott).
As a graduate of the Ford Trade School, Stanley began his career involved in the designing of the Ford Ontario Truck Plant in Oakville and culminated with Production Manager. He was the liaison in the massive hiring of Polish Immigrants in the 1980s.
Stanley is predeceased by his parents Jan & Antonina Warda, who instilled in him to be proud of his Polish heritage. He devoted endless hours volunteering with various Polish organizations; Polish Canadian Cultural Society, social convenor for the Polish National Union Branch 17, and 15 years as President of the Polish Canadian Congress, Hamilton District. He proudly supported and recognized Polish Veterans and the yearly pilgrimage to a little piece of Poland in Niagara-on-the-Lake every June. His biggest regret in life was that he was not successful in establishing a Polish Seniors Home in Hamilton
.
He enjoyed a very long retirement, spending time mentoring and proudly supporting his six adoring grandchildren: Emily (Scott), Michelle, Carolyn, Matthew (Samantha), David and Nicholas. Along with his support in their schooling, sports, and music, Stanley taught his grandchildren to appreciate the games of euchre, cribbage, and sequence. Also a great joy in his life were his two great grandchildren, Scarlett and Carter.
Stanley enjoyed his winters in Sarasota where he established a tight circle of friends at the Longwood Run Tennis Club where he played for endless hours. He loved entertaining his friends and family there, and in recent years, loved to sleep in the sun of the courtyard listening to the Polka Jammer. Stanley loved to dance to polka music and obereks with his beloved wife Jean, constantly being heard saying, “one more time”!
Uncle Stan/Stasiu was greatly loved by his many friends, nieces, nephews, and their children. A true gentleman with a great presence will be missed by all!
