Stanley Douglas Gibson Saturday January 15th 2022

Gibson, Rev. Stanley Douglas – Peacefully, with family by his side, on Friday, January 15th, 2022, in his 92nd year, Rev. Stanley Douglas Gibson slipped from this world into the arms of the Saviour he served all his life. Born April 30th 1930 in Brantford, Ontario, Stan was predeceased by his parents Stanley and Jessie Gibson (née Meridew), and his wife Beulah (née Beisel) (d. 2007).
Beloved husband of Ruth Armstrong Gibson (née Sandusky). Cherished father of Graham (Linda), Evelyn and the late John Gibson (d. 2008). Loving grandfather to Jonathan and Andrew, great-grandfather to Ciarra and Landon. Dear brother of Eunice Gibson, Paul Gibson (Julie) and the late Elizabeth Eckhardt (née Gibson). Brother-in-law to Harold Eckhardt, and Virgil and Della Gingrich. Will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews, extended family members and treasured friends.
Stan graduated in 1955 with the Overcomers class at Eastern Pentecostal Bible College and was ordained with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada in 1957. For more than 50 years, Stan and Beulah pastored churches in Drayton, Bracebridge, Huntsville, Tillsonburg, Doon (Kitchener), Hamilton (East Ancaster) and in Barrie where they continued to serve into their retirement years.
In 2010, Stan married Ruth Armstrong in Lindsay, Ontario, where their volunteer ministry included visiting the elderly and shut-ins in homes and hospitals, hosting newcomers in their home, and connecting with their neighbours.
Stan was an accomplished pianist, reaching Grade 10 Conservatory. He was planning to become a concert pianist until God called him to pastoral ministry. Stan had a beautiful high tenor voice, and blessed his congregations with his gifted song-leading. He was still singing the old hymns in his last days at Victoria Manor. He is remembered as a gracious, humble pastor who was known for his servant heart, pastoral care, his thoughtful mentoring and insightful biblical teaching.
The funeral will take place on Saturday, January 22nd at Calvary Pentecostal Church, 125 Victoria Avenue North, Lindsay. Visitation begins at 11:00 am until time of the funeral service at 1:00 pm. Arrangements entrusted to Stoddart Funeral Home, 24 Mill Street, Lindsay. Interment will take place at a later date at Mount Hope Cemetery, Brantford in the family plot.
