Obituary
With great sadness we announce the passing of Stan beloved husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-grandfather, Brother, Uncle and friend on March 31, 2022.
Stan was born to Walter and Lena Lychuk in Hyas Saskatchewan on July 24, 1935. He was one of nine children and the youngest son. As a young boy, Stan’s family moved to the Harlington area where they purchased land, settled and ran a small mixed farm. Stan met his lifelong partner Mary (Holland), from Whitebeach, SK when introduced by her brother James. They were married January 15, 1955 and began their life together on Stan’s family farm. Stan eventually took over from his Dad and ran the farm until 1998. Stan loved his family and life on the farm where he happily raised five boys with Mary. Farm work was demanding, and he accepted the challenge, always up at dawn to begin his day.
Stan lived on the farm until recent years. Stan was very handy and worked at a variety of jobs to supplement the farm. Jobs included assembling machinery for equipment dealers, logging, running heavy equipment, and working on roads for the Municipality. Stan was always available to lend a hand and help his neighbors, especially during harvest.
For those that knew Stan, they knew of his hard work ethic, his gentle spirit, his generosity, his kindness to others and most of all his selfless love for his wife and family. Stan loved good food (especially Chinese), watching westerns, playing cards, travelling and camping when he could get away from the farm, watching his sons compete in demo derby’s and helping at the derby’s, and spending time with sisters, brothers, children and grandchildren. Stan loved baseball and is kindly remembered pitching a ball to his children and other children visiting the farm on a Sunday afternoon.
Left to cherish Stan’s memory is his wife Mary, his children: Lawrence (Debbie), Leonard (Brenda), Jeff, Travis (Liz) and Brent, grandchildren: Jayson, Jamie, Colton, Kyle, Ryan, Brooke, and Hailey as well as great grandchildren: Mathew, Zachary, Emmy, James, Jack, Charlee, Eleanor; Sisters: Rose Filipowich, Stephanie Macooh and Lavina Lychuk as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Stan is predeceased by his parents, brothers: Paul, John and Peter, sisters: Anne Rubletz, Josie Bossey and grandson Dale.
Stan’s family sincerely thanks the staff of the Swan Valley Lodge for the care they provided to Stan over the last five years. In accordance with Stan’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private celebration of life will be planned later.
