Obituary of Sjan Verhaeghe
Passed peacefully on September 29, 2022 in Smiths Falls at the age of 79 years old. Predeceased by her parents Johannes and Gertrude VanOers. Sjan leaves behind her beloved daughter Carla Verhaeghe; her dear friend Leo Thibault; her brothers Frits VanOers (Gisele), and Max VanOers; her nephews James, Michael, Brian, Rick, and Jason; as well as her former husband Laurent Verhaeghe. Sjan was a great lover of all animals, but especially horses and her dogs; she was a feisty and spunky woman who loved deeply, and wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday October 4, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Blair & Son Funeral Home in Smiths Falls (112 Beckwith St. N.). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday October 5, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel with interment to follow at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations to the Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County, the Alzheimer’s Society of Lanark, Leeds & Grenville, or to an animal shelter of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
