Sister Monica Beaudoin 2022

Obituary of Sister Monica Beaudoin
Sister Monica Beaudoin, CSJ
The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada is saddened to announce the peaceful death of our beloved Sister Monica Beaudoin in the care centre at the Residence of the Sisters of St. Joseph, 485 Windermere Road in London on August 9, 2022.
Kathleen Helen Beaudoin was born on April 18, 1926, in Hamilton Ontario and joined the community of the Sisters of St. Joseph on August 25, 1949. She is remembered with affection by all her CSJ Sisters, her sister Margaret Mary Reitzel and cousin, Joseph (June) Beaudoin.
Predeceased by her mother Monica (Guerin), her father Lionel Joseph Beaudoin, brothers Patrick and Charles and sister-in-law Mildred Beaudoin.
Sister Monica’s ministries in health care were marked with quiet dedication and compassion. Trained as a registered nurse in 1947, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Kitchener, Monica served at St. Joseph’s Hospitals in London, Ontario, Killam Alberta and at the General Hospital in Galahad Alberta. In 1981, she completed courses in Clinical Pastoral Education and brought spiritual comfort as a Pastoral Care Minister at St. Joseph’s Hospitals in Sarnia, London, Chatham and at Brock Street Ministry in Windsor. In 1992, returning to London, she volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Peter’s Parish and St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Music was dear to Monica’s heart, and it was not unusual for her, in relaxed moments, to break into song. In recent years, whenever music and songs that were familiar to her were played, Monica’s face would light up and her toes would begin to tap, bringing delight to those who were fortunate enough to be with her. We thank God for Sister Monica’s gentle presence among us.
All services will be held at the Sisters of St. Joseph Residence, 485 Windermere Road, London, Ontario. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 11, 2022, from 2:30 – 4:30pm, and from 7:00-8:00pm with a prayer service at 6:30pm.
