PAUTLER, Sister Eileen (formerly Sister Mary Norbert), School Sister of Notre Dame
Passed away on Monday, December 5, 2022 at the age of 98 and in her 80th year as a School Sister of Notre Dame. Predeceased by her parents William Edward and Mary Anastasia(Hart) Pautler, her brothers, Joseph, Jerome, Gerald, Norbert and her sisters, Helen, Sister Imelda SSND, and Sister Mary Rose CSJ. Lovingly remembered by the members of her religious community and relatives. After graduation from Teachers’ College in 1944 she taught at the following schools, St. Helen’s Hamilton, St. Patrick, Cambridge, Sacred Heart, Mildmay and Sacred Heart, Walkerton. Beginning in 1954 Sister Eileen was assigned as principal at St. Mary, Owen Sound, Our Lady of Lourdes, Waterloo, St. Leo, Kitchener and Sacred Heart, Mildmay. After teaching at St. Brigid, Nakina for a year, she moved to Cloverdale, British Columbia in 1975 where she was principal of the private Catholic school until 1989. From 1990 to 1997, she lived at Notre Dame Convent, Waterdown where she was on the community leadership team. At the following missions she assisted in pastoral ministry: Sioux Narrows1997- 2002, Peace River, Alberta 2002-2005 and Fort St. John, British Columbia 2005- 2012. She then returned to Notre Dame Convent. Each day after her noon meal Sister Eileen enjoyed a long walk outdoors with a companion sister. On December 5 after her noon meal God took her for a walk into eternity. Ritual of Remembrance for Sister Eileen Pautler will be on Friday, December 9 at 2:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, December 10 at 10:30am at School Sisters of Notre Dame, Waterdown. Registration and masks are required Please phone (905) 689- 6344 Ext. 420 Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Burlington ON will follow funeral Mass.
