Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we say “auf Wiedersehen” to our darling Sigi.
After a lengthy illness Sigrid passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side.
Sigrid was a quiet person whose life centered around her family. She was the anchor and conscience to her husband and guiding counsellor to her three children. She emigrated from a refugee camp in Germany to Canada in 1953 with her parents and younger sister. Arriving in Quebec, they settled for a short time in Manitoba before moving to Hamilton, Ontario, where they made a new life together. From these roots, Sigrid developed an everlasting empathy for people that were less fortunate. She embraced the world as it was, and accepted everyone she met for who they were.
Sigrid is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Michael, her three loving children, Michael (Chantelle), Kimberley and Matthew, as well as her two sisters, Carola and Margaret, nephew, Tom and niece, Sarah.
Sigrid will be deeply missed but not forgotten.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and care aids who helped keep Sigrid comfortable.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees).
