It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother, Edith, who passed away peacefully after a courageous but short battle with a very aggressive form of cancer at the Vancouver General Hospital on November 13, 2022, aged 65.
Born in Hong Kong, Edith came to Canada in 1975 and studied at Sherwood Secondary School and Southmont Secondary School of Hamilton, Ontario, for Grade 12 and Grade 13. Her hard work paid off and she was awarded the Ontario Scholar in 1977, she continued her study at The University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, and was one of the thirty-five Western students who were named UWO faculty Association Scholarship winners for 1978-1979. She graduated in 1980 and her outstanding performance made her name in the Dean’s honour list. She returned to Hong Kong in the same year and dedicated over 30 years of her life working in Human Resources in various tertiary institutes and non-profit organizations. She retired in 2017 and was the Senior Director, Corporate Services at the YMCA of Hong Kong.
Anticipated to start a new chapter with her family, she returned to Canada with her family in 2020 and decided to call Vancouver home. Her determination to serve God and contribute to the community led her to her second home here at the Fountain of Love and Life. She participated actively in various volunteer works and activities and gained herself a lot of loving and caring friends.
She is low-profiled but brilliant. She is genuine, empathetic, sincere, and kind to anyone she met. She always put family first before anything else and is an excellent loving and forgiving wife, an extraordinary responsible and caring mother, a filial daughter, and a thoughtful and supportive sister.
Her passing is unexpectedly sudden to her family, and shattered their worlds in shock, disbelief, and immense sadness. Nonetheless, she’s been a rainbow in their clouds, guiding them to a new beginning with her magic in such a difficult time. She will be deeply missed, but never be forgotten!
Prayers will be offered Friday December 9 2022 at 10:15am at St. Francis Xavier Church, 438 Great Northern Way, Vancouver, BC followed by a Funeral Mass Service at 11:00 am. Interment will be held at 11:00am Saturday December 17 2022 at Holy Angels Building II, Gardens of Gethsemani, 15694 32nd Ave., Surrey, BC.
