Obituary
Peacefully, with family by her side at Brucelea Haven, Walkerton on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 in her 91st year. Shelley, loving wife of the late Eric. Beloved mother of Linda and her husband Larry Appel, Terry and her husband Mike Richard, and Marty Slezak. Proud Grandma of Brock (Lisa), Reid, Neal, Kim, Andres (Katt), Stefano (Sabrina), and Simonne. Great Grandma of 10. Predeceased by her daughter-in-law Anna.
Shelley loved singing and was good at it. She made a record in 1959 which landed in the top 20’s of the Canadian billboard. Her time with The Lighthouse Swing Band was so much fun for her and she won several Songbird awards with them. As a welfare worker for Bruce County for over 25 years her car was seen all over back roads . On her lunch hour your could see her parked on the side of the road having a 15 minute siesta. She liked to voice her opinion about the town of Paisley so she sat on council for a number of years. Since she seemed to have time on her hands she reported to CBC radio about special and quirky events going on in Bruce County. She liked that gig. She shared her love of music with her children who all sing (not well) and whistle around the house. Shelley was a young mother and liked having her children’s friends piling into the house. All her grandchildren thought she was a cool grandma with her big earrings and knowledge of pop culture. She was loved and will be missed.
A celebration of Shelley’s life will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, October 3rd, 2022 at the Knox United Church, 399 Goldie Street, Paisley.
Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
A special thank you to the staff at Brucelea Haven for all of their care and support.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Shirley Shelley Joyce Wells Parker March 24 2021..
