Obituary
PETERSON, Shirley Orpha – 87, of Shelburne, passed away peacefully at Bay Side Home in Barrington, September 2nd, 2022. Born July 20th, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Arnold and Thelma (Mullen) Winter, Brenton, Yarmouth Co. Shirley worked as a cook at the Nova Scotia School for Boys most of her working career until retirement. Shirley was a faithful church member and attended church every Sunday while she was still able. Shirley volunteered with her church, was a member of the Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and also a member of the Red Hatters’ Society, to name a few.
Shirley is survived by her children, Irene (Lawrence) Thorburn, Sandy Point, Linda Peterson-Blades, Yarmouth, Susan (Raymond) Gohier, Barrington, Ricky (Cindy) Jordan Branch. Grandchildren; Joey, Shirley, Wayne, Michael, James, Amanda, Corey, Tanya, Tamara, Christopher and Nicole, as well as many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband, William Byron Peterson, son, William (Billy), daughter, Barbara (Hiltz) and long-time companion James Marsh.
The family would like to take this time to thank the staff at Bay Side Home and Dr. Kenny Yee for their care and compassion.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Huskilson’s Funeral Home Shelburne. A Memorial service will take place from Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 58 Bulkley Street, Shelburne on Tuesday September 6th at 2:00 pm. Burial to follow in the Upper Sandy Point Cemetery. Memorial donations in Shirley’s name may be made to Shelburne United Church which will be accepted at the funeral home. On-line condolences may be left for the family at www.huskilson.net
