1930 – 2022
After a brief, rapid illness, Marty Dupuis died on December 18, 2022. Pre-deceased by her husband Leo Dupuis and son-in-law Ed. Mom to Lee (Joe), Kerry, Lin (Burton) and Paul; Gramma to Jacqueline (Jason), Nicholas (Silka), Thomas (Marisa), Craig, Caitlyn (Blair), Robin (Stan), Alexandra (Lawrence) and Erin (Tyler); Gigi to her 3 great-grandchildren.
Born in Pembroke, Ontario, to Ledman and Jenny (née Burwell) Edwards, Marty trained as a nurse at the Toronto General Hospital. After graduation, she worked in public health in the Ottawa valley area. Returning to nursing when her children were older, Marty worked at Baycrest Hospital in Toronto. She was immensely proud of being a nurse.
Marty was a big advocate of fitness and extra-curricular activities. As a Mom, she ran a busy household with children involved in swimming, skiing, tennis, ballet, hockey, piano, etc, etc. She skied, was a Tai-Chi instructor and, as an alternative to the gym in recent years, an avid “desk-pedaller”.
Marty encouraged everyone to ‘enjoy every moment’, even the ‘lousy’ ones. She certainly enjoyed spending time with her family and her many friends – sharing meals and the occasional glass of white wine.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church on December 22 at 11AM with family burial at Mount Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a charitable donation would be appreciated. A celebration of Marty’s life will be held early in 2023.
We offer our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Shirley Marty Dupuis nee Edwards 2022 and hope that their memory may be a source of comfort during this difficult time. Your thoughts and kind words are greatly appreciated.
