Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Shirley Marie Cashwell, wife of the late Nicholas Cashwell, wish to announce her passing which occurred on April 2, 2022, at Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born in Saint John, December 23, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Jean (Wilkins) Goguen.
She is survived by her grandchildren; Jason (Darlene), Michelle Clements (Paul), Faye Byers (Rob) and Jonathan Cashwell, great-grandchildren; Nicholas, Mark, Seth, Hayley and Bobby, great-great grandson Cole, brother George ‘Sony’ Goguen, sisters; Betty Lake and Helen Buckley, lifelong friend Mary McLean, and cousins, nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by her son John Cashwell, her daughter Dorothy Reid (Mark), brother Clifford Goguen, and sister Bernice Burnside.
Shirley took great pride in her family and all their accomplishments. She was the secretary of their family business for many years working with her husband.
Shirley seemed to always be on the go enjoying cruises, the casino, bingo and dances. She also had her quiet times when she went for a walk, spent time at the cottage, or worked on her crocheting and knitting.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). In keeping with Shirley’s wishes, no services will be held. Following cremation, interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Memorial donations made to the Alzheimer’s Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by her family.
