Shirley Irene MacCabe – 84, Harmony, passed away
peacefully on Monday morning, February 14, 2022, at Colchester East
Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Truro, she was a daughter of the
late Norman and Lillian (Truscott) Weatherby.
Shirley worked in Jenkins Hall cafeteria at Nova Scotia
Agricultural College and retired at age 60. She loved baking,
especially her sookie cookies and biscuits, and apple pies for Mark
Patton to thank him for keeping her driveway clear of snow, keeping a
close eye on her and being a great neighbour. She also enjoyed
fishing, camping, listening to bagpipe music and quilting; her family
has received many of her handmade treasures over the years and they
will cherish them forever.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Roy) Bell,
Nuttby; Patsy (Eddie) Maynard, Harmony; Wilma (Chris) Lynds, Belmont;
grandchildren, Tanya MacCabe (Adam Marshall), Nuttby; Joey (Lisa)
Hopkins, Truro; Michael (Melissa) Belanger, Onslow; Christopher Bell,
Nuttby; Darla Maynard, Halifax; Evan Maynard (Molly Watts),
Greenfield; Jessica Lynds, Belmont; great grandchildren, Kyla, Jesse,
Taylor, Paige, Mike, MacKenzie, Tobias, Natalya; siblings, Charles
(Audrey) Weatherby, Carm (Robert) Legere, Arnold Weatherby, Joan
Langille, Linda (Edward) Niles, Norma (Joe) Lambourne; several nieces
and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband,
Floyd Vaughn MacCabe; daughter, Judith Irene MacCabe.
Private interment at a later date in Harmony Cemetery. If so
desired, donations in Shirley’s memory to Canadian Breast
Cancer Foundation are welcomed.
