Obituary
With her childlike wonder, it was hard to believe Shirley was approaching 90 years of age. Young at heart, she taught us to use your years wisely and when given opportunity, always help people, plants and animals. Shirley taught us the gift of giving to use your heart-forward.
Shirley treasured family, friends, flowers and fun. She always had a gem or pearl worn, to spark conversation, with whomever noticed.
Shirley embraced her indigenous roots.
Don and Shirley were inseparable from the day they met. He liked to be goofy and laugh and she liked to laugh goofy.
They started their young family living in the North Shore of Vancouver. Home was where the heart was. It was here they shared a love of nature, sports and family. Later, Shirley’s talent for oil paintings was explored for others to admire. Being an artist and a lover of nature, Shirley never missed a morning without saying “Hello World.” She lived life fully and could colour for hours with her grandson Brad.
Shirley spent many years as a swim instructor at North Vancouver Recreation Centre. Later to retire in Penticton, where her and Don traveled with friends and enjoyed many rounds of golf.
Shirley is predeceased by her husband Don. She is survived by her devoted family of three girls, their spouses, her loving brother and family, the lights of her life, her grandchildren and great grandchildren and many friends and relatives.
We want Shirley to know that she has touched all in life and wish her a safe journey forward. We will remember her smile, her warmth, her energy.
Shirley would want us to embrace the good times.
