BLIGHT, Shirley Connaught was born in Halifax (Shirley Connaught Wilkie) on December 5, 1928. Her marriage to William James Blight in Espanola was on April 18, 1953. Shirley was a nurse at the Espanola General Hospital when they met, and thoroughly enjoyed her nursing career. Shirley’s faith in the Lord, and her generous love of her family and her friends, were keystones in her life. Shirley’s loving husband, Bill , passed away on January 25, 2009.
Shirley died peacefully at the Espanola Nursing Home on June 9, 2022, surrounded by the love of her children. She will be sadly missed by her children Faith, Jayne, Bill and Jim, her sister Lynn, her sister-in-law Jean, her grandchildren Kirsten, Jeff, Tom, Jennifer and Marion and by her great grandson Finnley and great granddaughter Alice.
Shirley’s granddaughter Kirsten is very sad that her wonderful grandmother (Nana) will not be able to meet her new great granddaughter Cailey Ann who will be born the first week of October.
A memorial service will be planned for a date this summer. Heartfelt thanks to Becky Kelly, for the loving care and friendship, and to the caring staff at Espanola Nursing Home. Arrangements by BOURCIER FUNERAL HOME Ltd, Espanola
