James Semoff
With broken hearts we say goodbye to James (Jimmy) Semoff. After a brief battle with Cancer, James died peacefully with family by his side on March 23, 2022, at the age of 80. James was born in Bouf, Macedonia on February 27, 1942. Son of the late Elias and Angelina Simou. Predeceased by his brother Sam and sister Staska. James will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 47 years Joan Semoff; their two children Brenda (Steve), Ron (Kelly); 7 grandchildren Alicia, Brittany, Julia, Tasha, Shelby, Jonathan, Joseph; and great granddaughter Reverie; his sister Christine, sister in law Angie, Brother in law John (Carol), as well as his many nephews and nieces. James contributed to the many pot holes we now see on the streets of Toronto after his 56 years of driving cab, many of those years spent with Diamond Taxi. When he wasn’t in his cab he could be found at a table playing his favourite card game (but never for more than 8 hours) or sitting at home enjoying a Blue Jay game with his wife at his side. More than all 3 of those things combined, James loved to chat and joke around with people. He had a talent of making strangers fall in love with his kind, and genuine, personality – it also didn’t hurt that he was forever 19. He touched the heart of so many people simply by being himself, and that will be missed by many.
Visitation Details: Friends will be received at the Accettone Funeral Home on Monday March 28th, 2022 from 10:30 AM until the time of service in the Chapel at 1 PM.
Interment to follow at Pine Ridge Cemetery
