Sebastian Dreher, age 89 years, of Regina, SK, passed away in Palliative Care at the Pasqua Hospital on Saturday, October 1, 2022. Sebastian was born on a farm near Kendal, Saskatchewan on July 11, 1933, to Magdalena and John Dreher. Sebastian married Lucy Ann Kress, and together they had 4 children. His memory will live on in his children Jan (Russ), Dennis (Kate), Kathy (Heath), and Bob (Julie); grandchildren Riley, Ryan, Jayden, Ashley, Parker, Blair, Oliver, and Anna; and great-grandchildren Ellizabeth, Ollivia, Jace and Paxton.
When Sebastian started school, he could speak only German. At age 16, he started working various odd jobs to help his parents out financially. When he moved to Regina, he worked at Supercrete, Kaufman’s, and retired from the City of Regina at age 62.
Throughout their 63 years of marriage, Sebastian and Lucy lived in Regina and recently downsized from their home of 55 years. As a young family they always went camping and enjoyed 17 years at Sherwood Forest Country Club. They travelled to Aruba, Hawaii, Nashville, and several times to British Columbia.
Sebastian loved visiting, playing games, and joking with his grandchildren. His hobbies were curling, golfing, playing cards, old time dancing and square dancing, woodworking, volunteer work, winemaking, gardening, and endless hours of ‘putzing’ in the garage. If something was broken, Seb could fix it. Sebastian was also a proud member of Little Flower Parish and Little Flower Men’s Club.
He is survived by siblings Bernie, Marie, Ed and Ellie; predeceased by parents Magdalena and John; and siblings Lucas, Henry, Louise and Steve.
A private family service will be held. Donations in remembrance of Sebastian may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Sebastian
