Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Scott Hanley announce his passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook, NL on Sunday, April 3rd, 2022 at the age of 53 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, his companion and love of his life, Rose, of 8 years; Son: Ryan Smith; step-sons: Josh and Joseph Butt; grandson: Jayden Smith; Brother: Chris Hanley (Jody) of Ontario; niece: Madison; nephew: Brett Man; Uncles: Bill and Richard; Aunts: Lucy, Brenda, Iva and Eva; fur babies: Lusha, Buddy, Casey and Mittens; Jeff, who was like a brother; Todd Taylor and Owen Mahoney (childhood friends); Steve Brake; Sampy, Senny, Uncle and Super Fly; as well as a large circle of family and friends. John was predeceased by his mother: Dorothy J Bannister; father: John Hanley; sister: Gina Hanley; Grandfather: Bond Bannister; Grandmother: Georgina Bannister; Uncle: John (Jack) Bannister; aunts: Mary and Betty.
Scott had a great love for the outdoors, spending time in the woods, fishing, quadding and camping.
Visitation will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home on Wednesday April 6th, 2022 from 2-4 PM & 7-9 PM. A funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, April 7th, 2022 at 2:00 PM from Country Haven Chapel, with Rev. Tanya White officiating. Interment to take place at a later date. There are no flowers by request. Those wishing to make a memorial donation may do so to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation by visiting: cpff.ca/ or to a charity of one’s choice.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Scott’s transplant team, all of the doctors and nursing staff at the ICU, Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook, and his homecare worker, John Zillman for his kindness and compassion.
At the request of the family, mandatory mask wearing will be in place for the visitations and funeral service.
