It is with profound sadness that the family of Sandralea Mae
(MacArthur) MacDonald announce her sudden passing at home in
Antigonish on October 21,2022 at the age of 77.
Born in Goldboro on May 18th, 1945, she was a daughter of the
late the late Vivian (Silver) & Robert
MacArthur.
Growing up in Goldboro, she enjoyed swimming in the harbour,
picking blueberries, and rocking her pet Hen to sleep.
Mom was a quiet, kindhearted, unassuming woman who put
others’ needs ahead of her own. She had a special way with animals and
was always willing to help an animal in need – so much so that the
neighbor’s cats chose Mom’s home as their own. She fostered for both
the SPCA and Coastal K9 Rescue Society. The only thing she loved more
than animals were her four children.
After many years of staying home to raise her four children
and help run her former husband’s business she took a leap of faith
and started working as a receptionist at MacDonald Chrysler. She
thoroughly enjoyed the friendships and laughter shared with her
co-workers and customers for over 20 years.
Mom enjoyed a game of chance, her TV Game shows, Judge Judy
and something sweet to finish off her meal.
She is survived by her daughters, Shawna (Gerard) MacDonald,
Antigonish; Sonya (Jim) Clarke, Calgary; and Sheena MacDonald, Thunder
Bay; their father, Leo J. MacDonald, Antigonish; grandchildren, Kyle
MacDonald and Kayla MacDonald, Antigonish; and Luke and William
Clarke, Calgary; brother-in-law, Spurgeon Gammon, Antigonish; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, Shane (4); sister, Barbra
(MacArthur) Gammon; nephew, Darrell Gammon; and stepfather, Ranald
MacLean.
The family wishes to acknowledge the staff of St.
Martha’s Hospital, EHS Paramedics, Family First Medical,
Continuing and Palliative Care for your assistance and compassion with
Mom.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm in
C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish.
Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday in St. Ninian Cathedral,
Antigonish, at 11:00am. Burial in the parish
cemetery.
Due to sensitivities, the family asks that all visitors
remain scent-free.
Family flowers only please. Donations to honour Mom’s memory
may be made to Coastal K9 Rescue, which was very dear to her heart, or
The Lung Association of Nova Scotia. Online

We pray that Mom has now found peace in death that had eluded
