Obituary of Sandra E. Lewis
LEWIS, SANDRA E. – It is with profound sadness that the family of Sandra E Lewis of St. Andrews, NB, announce her passing at the Charlotte County Hospital, on Tuesday, September 27th, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer with family by her side. She was born in St. Stephen, NB and was the daughter of the late Walter Edwin & Elaine Winnifred (McCarthy) Lewis.
Sandra worked for the DFO (Dept. of Fisheries & Oceans) as an office clerk/licensing for 30+ years. Her passion was rug hooking and was one of the founding members of the “Quoddy Hookers”. She travelled around the Maritimes attending several “rug hook in’s”. Along with the hooking group, she was involved in the making of the kneelers at the St. John the Baptist Chapel of Ease” in Chamcook. Sandra’s second passion was golf. You would have found her regularly on the course in Bayside. She was also very much involved in searching her family’s genealogy, especially in Ireland. She loved her grandchildren; she was their number 1 fan and could be found at the arena cheering them on with her noisy bell. She loved doing puzzles or listening to Christmas and Irish music.
Sandra is survived by her daughter Kelly MacLean (Franklin) of Chamcook, NB, she was known as “Nanny Town” to her 3 grandchildren, Alexander, Nolan & Leigha, her 2 sisters Heather Lewis (Blythe Chang) of St. Andrews, NB and Lorraine King of Summerside, PEI, nieces, Lynn MacLeod and Cheryl King & several cousins.
By Sandra’s request cremation will take place. Friends are invited to gather with the family at a celebration of her life, on Sunday, October 16th, 2022 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm at the All Saints Anglican Church Hall, King St. St. Andrews, NB.
A graveside service will take place in the spring.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Charlotte County SPCA or the Charlotte County Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. On line condolences to the family or donations can be made at www.humphreysfh.com
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care & direction of Humphreys Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street St. Stephen, NB E3L 2B2 (506-466-3110)
