Obituary of Sandra Beth MacLean
Sandra Beth MacLean, 51 of Cole Harbour, passed away suddenly on February 12, 2022. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of Margaret Leone and the late Dr. George Sterling.
Sandra was known for her caring, loving, and selfless nature. She always put the needs of others ahead of herself. She had an intense love for all animals and was especially passionate about dogs. She had a special place in her heart for rescue and senior dogs. Sandra could often be found in her kitchen cooking and baking for others. She had a love for the beach, and loved taking her black labs for hikes and swims. She enjoyed her time spent at home with Wade binge watching their favourite tv shows and movies. She also cherished the time she spent with all of her family.
Her wit and humour brought smiles and laughter to everyone.
Sandra was a breast cancer survivor and could always be heard advocating for women to get regular mammograms. Sandra was a graduate of Maritime Business College and worked as Veterinary Assistant in the Dartmouth Veterinary Hospital and was manager of Metro Animal Emergency Clinic, and Cobequid Animal Hospital. She was a well-known volunteer at Hope for Wildlife. In February of 2020, Sandra was able to achieve her dream by opening the Canine Club Dog Day Care. In 2021, The Canine Club was the recipient of the Platinum Award for best Dog Day Care in HRM and Platinum Award for Best Dog Kennel. These awards were a tribute to her passion for her love and care of dogs. She was very well known and respected in the animal community and touched so many lives during her long career working in the veterinary field and through her dog day care.
She also had a love of fitness and earned a Personal Trainer, Resistance Trainer, and Cancer Exercise Certificates. She was a familiar face working as a weight room supervisor at Cole Harbour Place.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her loving partner of 25 years, Wade Rudolph; her brothers, Sterling MacLean (Sarah) and their children, Rebecca and Elizabeth, Halifax; and Sean MacLean (Charlene) also of Halifax. Sandra will be dearly missed by many including her aunt, Melinda J. MacLean, Halifax; and her cousin, Catherine MacLean and her husband, Douglas Webber, of Phildelphia; she will also be deeply missed by her in-laws, Charmaine Jennex (David); Darren Rudolph (Susan); and Justin Rudolph (Anne). She was adored by her nieces and nephews, Dustin (Sarah), Shawntelle (Chris), Jasmine, Kyle, Brady, Gus, and Rose. There were numerous dogs in her life that were lucky to be able to call her mom, and will be dearly missed by Maddie, Colbie, Ivy and Luke.
Wade would like to thank Janeen, Julie, Sam, and Lynn for their dedication to helping make Sandra’s Dog Day Care dream a reality.
A private celebration of her life will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Hope for Wildlife or any charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
