Edwards, Sandra (née Bott) 1949-2022
It is with profound sadness that the family of Sandra (Bott) Edwards announce her peaceful passing on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at the age of 72 years.
Sandra will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her husband of 52 years, George; her daughters Carla (Vinny) Palangio and Lesley (Tyler) Twarowski; grandchildren Jackson, Eva, Alaina, and Greg; loving sister Ruth (Roger) Latta of Ottawa and her extended family. Sandra is predeceased by her parents William and Eva (Maltby) Bott of Savard Twp.
Sandra was a dedicated nurse at North View Nursing Home in Englehart for 31 years. She developed close, lasting friendships with ‘the girls from the Lodge’, and she provided the best care to the residents of the nursing home. Sandra loved a good joke, especially if it was a little risqué. She appreciated a freshly cut lawn, getting pedicures, and loved to visit with friends over coffee. She was an avid Habs fan; much to the dismay of George. She cheered on the Blue Jays whenever they played and still thought Elvis was the King. Sandra had a heart of gold and radiated kindness and generosity to everyone she knew.
She and George first met at a Hills Lake broom ball dance and have been together ever since. They raised their family and built a loving home for their girls. Carla and Lesley grew up knowing they were the apples of their Mama Bear’s eyes. However, when the grandchildren came along, they stole Nana’s heart. Fussing over the grandchildren was a natural occurrence. Always the care giver, if you needed anything, just go to Nana! Unconditional love is what Sandra’s daughters and grandchildren felt from her. Either on the phone or in person, Sandra and Ruth could start a conversation exactly where it last ended. They were always there for each other and shared a lifetime of memories.
In retirement, Sandra and George enjoyed their time together. They enjoyed long drives through the countryside, where they always hoped to see some wildlife. All they needed was a full tank of gas and their Timmies. Lack of cell service didn’t even stop them… wild teenagers at heart.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the medical professionals at Health Sciences North ICU for their care and compassion. Memorials and contributions can be made to The Pavilion Women’s Centre in Haileybury, Ont. and/or a local animal rescue shelter of your choice. There will be a Celebration of Life for Sandra. Date and location will be determined. Services provided by Simple Wishes of the North, Sudbury.
