Obituary of Salvatore Bonanno
SALVATORE BONANNO
86 years old on November 20, 2022
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our cherished Husband, Father and Nonno after a valiant battle with lung cancer.
Cherished Husband to Francesca for 56 years.
Beloved Dad to Enza and Doug Hilton, Anna and Jean-Marc Crovisier, and Rosetta and Brian Stack.
Adoring and PROUD Nonno of Victoria & Olivia Hilton and Ethan Stack and of course grand-dog Vinnie.
Predeceased by parents Filippo and Vincenza Bonanno.
Dear brother of Antonino (Giuseppina) Bonanno, Maria (Joe, 1996) Palermo, Antonia (Biagio 2020) Fontana, and Calogera (Rosario) Ienna.
Dear brother-in-law to Giuseppina and Giuseppe Fontana and Giacomo and Enza Bonanno (Sicily).
Dad will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, compare’s and friends in Canada, Italy and Australia.
Dad worked at Windsor Bumper Manufacturing for 27.5 years. After the company closed in 1990, he enrolled in the Landscaping Program at St. Clair College as he was still too young to retire. Being that Dad only had his education from Italy, it was difficult to continue in the program. He was lucky to have found a job as a shipper/receiver at Glider Guard Tool and Die from which he retired twice.
Longtime member of St. Angela Merici Church, Caboto Club and was the founder and proud member of the Congregazione Di San Giuseppe. He had a passion for his garden, wine making and keeping his cars immaculately clean.
Thank you to the many healthcare providers that took care of Dad during his journey, especially nurse Carley from Paramed, The Cancer Clinic, Dr. Rukavina and the Hospice nurses, Dr. Dhar, and Dr. James DeSantis for all their care.
Visiting at the Windsor Chapel (Banwell Chapel) 11677 Tecumseh Rd E Windsor, on Thursday November 24, 2022 from 2 to 5pm and 7 to 9pm. Prayers Thursday at 4:30pm. Funeral services on Friday November 25, 2022 at 10:15am from the funeral home then to St. Angela Merici Church for funeral mass at 11:00am. Entombment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Angela Merici Church, Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation or The Ronald McDonald House (Windsor).
