Survived by brother Filippo (Gina), and sisters-in-law Annunziata and Grazia, Predeceased by nephews John, Joe and John Cassano. Salvatore was a beloved brother-in-law to Salvatore and Filomena Merla, Antonietta Merla (d), Francesco and Angela Merla, Pasquale and Grazia (d) Cappucci, Giovanna and Terenzio (d) Mostacci and Mario and Filomena Savino. Salvatore is survived by numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy. Dad was born on April 6, 1933 in San Giovanni Rotondo, Foggia, Italy. Dad was happiest when surrounded by family and friends and sharing his passion for gardening. Dad welcomed anyone to his home with open arms and a little “shot” of something to get the visit started. Many thanks to the caring staff at Juravinski Hospital.
A private visitation will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Road East in Hamilton, on Thursday, January 6, 2022; as well as a private funeral service in the William J. Markey Chapel to follow. A burial at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 254 Garner Road West in Ancaster is to take place, also by invitation only as per Covid-19 protocols. In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations to a charity of choice.
