Obituary of Ruth Evelyn McAra
Passed away peacefully at The Village at University Gates, Waterloo on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at the age of 98.
Survived by her loving son Dennis and his wife Vikki. Will be forever remembered by her wonderful grandchildren Shanon and family, Karie and family, Spencer (Sarah), Lisa (Dave), Hailey (Brady) and Cody James (Amy). Cherished great-grandmother of Kasady and Andrea, Tyler, Kyle and the twins Emma and Mitch. Will be fondly remembered by her nephew Jerry LeRoy and family and niece, the late Joyce (Don) Hayles.
Predeceased by her son Bob McAra, daughter Colleen Hutchinson and her son Dean Hutchinson; parents Blake and Grace (nee Russelo) Smith, siblings Percy, Pearl, Mildred, Harold, Jean, Irene, and Madeline; former husband James McAra.
In Ruth’s younger years she enjoyed gardening, sewing, and cooking. The highlight of her day was watching her hero “Tiger Woods”. She would follow him faithfully throughout his career, even though she didn’t golf. She always welcomed her grandchildren. She was very content and happy to live at her home for the past 38 years. Ruth retired from Electrohome after 20 years of faithful service.
Special thanks to all the staff in the Downey Neighbourhood at University Gates. The staff and all of Ruth’s friends in the Downey Neighbourhood made her days very special.
Relatives and friends are invited to share their memories of Ruth during a memorial visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Sunday, September 11, 2022 from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. with a service to celebrate Ruth’s life at 2 p.m. A reception will immediately follow the service in the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home. Cremation has taken place.
