Obituary
In Loving Memory of
Ruth Morrow
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Ruth Laverne Helen Morrow passed away peacefully in the Kelvingdell Lodge, Kelvington, SK, on January 28, 2022. Ruth was born on June 5, 1937, to Ellen (Nettie) Thompson McDougall and Darwin Cripps. Ruth grew up in Acton, ON. She was the youngest of her siblings, Lyle, Mary, Margaret (Mina), Ivy, Leonard, and Doris.
In the fall of 1954, Ruth met the love of her life, Eldon Morrow, while in Georgetown, ON, on a trip from Saskatchewan with his parents and sister Vera. Eldon ended up working in a mushroom plant. They were married in Acton, ON on April 16, 1955. Ruth returned to Nut Mountain, SK, with her husband, and became actively involved in his farming operation. Throughout her life she was a dedicated homemaker, while she held odd jobs here and there. In August 1958, their first daughter, Carolyn (Dave) was born, followed by Marlene (Jim) in August 1960 and their only son Brian was born in April 1966.
When Eldon and Ruth retired from farming in 1994, they moved into the Kelvington Villa. She was very involved in the Villa Community, and was highly appreciated by her fellow–residents for her countless, kind deeds and warm hospitality. Ruth was best known for her home-based bake shop, including her butter tarts and squares. She also enjoyed helping in the garden, watching and feeding the hummingbirds, and soaking in a warm bubble bath. Her favourite pastimes were connecting with family and friends on the phone, doing word find puzzles, playing bingo with the residents in the Villa, and listening to live music.
Ruth was blessed with six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, Charlene (Jeff) and their child Maella, Shawn, Cody (Cassandra), Robert, Travis and his child Braxdin, and Tyler (Daiisy) and their child Felix. She was predeceased by her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Eldon, her parents, and her siblings, except Doris Bingham of Georgetown, Ontario.
Over the last several months, Ruth struggled with complications due to cancer. She stayed in both the Kelvington Hospital and Kelvindell Lodge to keep her comfortable, with her daughter, Marlene, and family near. On January 28, 2022, she passed away peacefully, with loved ones at her side. Thank you to all the staff for your support and kindness.
She will be lovingly remembered by her three children and their families; her sister-in-law Vera Morrow, sister Doris Bingham, and many cherished relatives and friends.
