Ruth Burnett

Ruth Lillian Burnett passed away on October 28, 2022, at Bay Haven Care Community in Collingwood. Loving and devoted mother of Margaret, Donald, Barbara, and Janet. Ruth was predeceased by her husband James and two sons James and Thomas. Nana to Kate, Craig, Angie, Peggy, Stacy, Gregory, Douglas, Leanne and to great grandchildren Cohen, Hunter, Ryan, Max, Ellie, Bentley, Landon, Teagan, and Layla.
Ruth lived in Toronto while raising her family and later started working out of the house in her 40’s. After the death of her eldest son Jimmy, she decided to retire to Woodland Beach at the family cottage. Ruth kept herself very busy and joined the Bayshore Seniors Club where she took on many roles including Club President for many years.
Ruth believed in giving her time to others and volunteered for many causes in her lifetime including donating her blood. Her endless energy is an example we continue to learn from! Ruth loved to cook and bake, preferring to eat her own food at home. She also loved to crochet and taught many others the craft. In her later years, Ruth crocheted well over 1000 dishcloths for the Georgian Triangle Humane Society (she called it “the dog and cat place”) to raise much needed funds. Ruth loved cats; her intention was to prevent the suffering of unwanted kittens. Please donate to a local animal shelter/rescue in her memory.
Private internment in Toronto. Ruth’s life will be celebrated next summer on the shores of Georgian Bay as we did for her 90th Birthday. Family will welcome friends to attend.
