ROWE, Ruth Irene (nee Morgan)
May 2, 1940 – May 27, 2022
Passed peacefully at The Bridge Hospice in Warkworth. Daughter of the late Murray and Annie Morgan. Wife of Gary Rowe for 58 years. Loving mother of Bryce (Cindy), Vaughn (Julie), Lorelei (Terry Langford), and Chad. Proud grandmother of Ryan (Jacquie), Morgan (Chris Foran), Kyle, Kreig (Sarah Muth), Caitlin (Kevin Brown), Victoria (Leo Foley), Anthony and Nicholas. Great grandma to Grayson, Jude, Kennedy, Bennett, Charlie, Hayden & Alanna. Godmother to Barb Schwager. Sister of Roscoe (Kathryn) Morgan and sister-in-law of Lois Morgan, Gord (Marilyn) Rowe, Bonnie (Phil) Hayes, and Rodney (Yvonne) Rowe. Predeceased by brothers Roy, Elmer and Harry Morgan, sister Aileen Skinkle, sister-in-law Marlene Morgan, and brothers-in-law Tim Skinkle and Barry Hayes. Aunt, great aunt, and great-great aunt to many nieces and nephews. There are people who by their very presence in the world, make it a much better place to be. Such was the life of Ruth Rowe. Ruth was passionate about many things, but her love of family, in addition to her love of teaching, sports and competitive card playing were second to none. Ruth was a dedicated teacher with a decades-long career that began in local one-room schools and ended as a supply teacher for the KPRDSB, with many twists and turns along the way. In 1980, Ruth acquired her transport licence so that she could haul milk alongside Gary when they started Groson Milk Transport. This venture would not have been possible without Ruth making this sacrifice for her family. She returned to supply teaching in the early 90’s, then taught full time, until retiring in 2005. However, her passion for teaching never waivered and Ruth continued to supply teach until 2010. She also supported Gary with his adventure into beef farming, chasing cows down sideroads at all hours of the day and night! Ruth was also a dedicated member of her local community. She was one of the founding members of the Campbellford District Curling and Racquet Club, lead the choir at Zion United Church for years, and taught 4-H. Ruth was also a dedicated member of Christ Anglican Church and when she was able, was an active ACW member. There wasn’t a sport that Ruth would not watch, especially in her later years. Baseball, hockey, curling, basketball, she had to keep up with everything, so she was able to talk sports with all her grandchildren! There was nothing more important to Ruth than being a part of her children and grandchildren’s lives. She could be found attending school concerts, sporting events, piano recitals, and graduations (even in a different country). She always had high expectations and loved each one of them unconditionally. She was so very proud of her family and would share her pride with anyone who would listen. To quote a dear friend, “Ruth was smart and witty, caring, compassionate, spontaneous, loyal to a fault, able to laugh at herself, had the ability to accept short comings, and always saw the good in others.” This captures the essence of Ruth Rowe. A special thank you to all the staff at The Bridge Hospice that helped walk Ruth “home” over the past 9 weeks. Also, a huge shout out to all the team members at Island Park Retirement Residence that were there to assist Ruth over the past 3 years when her health started to deteriorate, and she needed more consistent care. The family of Ruth Rowe truly appreciates each one of you that made a difference in her life, and we know she touched each one of you as well. Thank you – Ruth’s family.
