Obituary
GREENHOUGH, Ruth Merle born on March 10, 1924 in Hamilton, ON, went to be with her Lord on June 15, 2022 at the age of 98 years.
Mom was born to William and Ida Gibbons in Hamilton, Ontario. Her mother passed away when she was only 4 years old. She then lived with her mother’s cousin Sue and John (Deac) Deacon in Hamilton. She met Dad, Abraham Arthur Greenhough (Art) and they were married in 1947. Mom ministered with Dad where he served in various United Church charges throughout Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba and British Columbia.
Ruth is survived by her children Terrence (Indira) Greenhough of Salmon Arm, BC; Stuart (Joanne) Greenhough of West Kelowna, BC; Jacalyn (Steve Guidone) Greenhough of Salmon Arm, BC; Ronald Greenhough of West Kelowna, BC and Arthur Greenhough Jr. of West Kelowna, BC. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Michael (Jane) Greenhough; Kerri-Anne Greenhough; Trevor (Laura Nelson) Greenhough, Cassandra (Kory) Wood, and Paige (Ryan Jolly) Greenhough; Keely-Shae (Tim Rickerby) Greenhough, Jordan (Katie White) Greenhough, Shaun Greenhough, Andrea and Shayna Greenhough; and great-grandchildren Liam, Beau, Jayden, Sutton, Weylyn. Ruth is also survived by her sister-in-law Reta Dennis of Grimsby, ON, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by Art in 2010, her parents Ida and William, adopted parents Sue and Deac, her brother Gordon, sisters Gwen, Mary and June and their spouses, her brothers-in-law Ronald and John and their spouses, as well as her brother-in-law Elmer Dennis.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Mom’s many care-givers, sons Ron and Art who lived with her for the past 8 years, Eunice and Jane who came to her home on a regular basis and the care-givers from Interior Health West Kelowna, for their care, compassion and support during Mom’s final months at home where she was able to be until meeting Dad for their 75th Anniversary on June 19, 2022.
