RUTH EARLEY
1935 – 2022
Mrs. Ruth (Margret) Earley passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 knowing that she was loved beyond measure by her family. Born in Port Arthur in 1935, she was the eldest of 6 children.
Ruth met the love of her life, Frank, in 1957 at a dance at the Kakabeka Legion Hall. She saw him from across the dance floor, batted her eyes at him and the rest was history. She told her friend that night, that that was the man she was going to marry. Together they created a loving home for their 4 children. The home she and Frank created can’t be remembered without thinking of the smell of homemade bread in the air. She loved to cook and has passed on her talents to many in the family. Ruth and Frank loved to camp at Mark’s lake, cheer on her boys at sporting events, her daughter’s dance or modelling recitals, and winter in Arizona where they made many friends and memories. Ruth loved to play cards of all kinds and spent countless hours with family and friends enjoying a game of Euchre, Crib, Canasta or 21 to name a few. She was a very skilled player and in the latter years she looked forward to her weekly outings to 55 Plus where she would quite often take home the pot. She was an avid curler and an avid fan of the sport cheering on the locals. She had many careers over the years, most involving child care but her favourite was being a bus driver for 10 years with Iron Range Bus Lines. She was loved by all who met her and will be remembered fondly for her sense of humour and kindness. She developed many close relationships with the staff and residence at her home at Leila Greco.
Ruth is survived by her children Frank (Paola), Wayne (Mary-Anne), Heather (Ron) and Robert; 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren that she got great joy spending time with. She is also survived by her brother Stanley (Linda) sister-in-law Diane and numerous nieces and nephews as well as special friends Elsie, Nancy and Donna.
Ruth was predeceased by her loving husband, Frank, in 2011 on their 53rd wedding anniversary, her parents, Ted and Edna Williamson, siblings infant Marilyn, Gordon, David and Ed and son in law Roberto Polini. Also predeceased by sister in laws, Pat, Marjory and Gloria, brothers-in-law Tom and Doug as well as grandson Clayton Turner.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the dedicated 5 North Nurses, Doctors and Therapist of St Joe’s as well as the 4th floor Nursing Angels and Dr. Sellick of the Palliative Care/ Hospice Unit. Your care and compassion will forever be remembered.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022 at The Knights of Columbus Hall on May St., Thunder Bay, ON. Family and friends are invited to gather from 12:30pm until 3:30pm. A private family interment will be held in Mountain View Cemetery on Friday morning.
Should friends so desire, donations to the Arthritis Society or Diabetes Canada would be greatly appreciated in lieu of flowers.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James.
As a band of loved ones gathered to bid their farewells,
a unanimous sob rang out saying, “There She goes.”
At that very moment a joyous cry
could be heard from the anxious loved ones
waiting to greet her saying, “Here She comes!”
