Russell Litt, of Hanover and Ivanhoe Lake passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving wife and family on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at the age 88 after a three -year battle with lung cancer.
Born in Stratford on May 29, 1934 to the late Carl and Mary (nee Whiting) Litt. Russell married the love of his life, Shirley, on May 28, 1955. In 1972, Russell and his family moved from Guelph to Ivanhoe Lake and went on to establish a successful hunting, fishing, and family vacation resort. He took great pride in caring for his flower beds and lawn. He enjoyed warm winters in Florida and a long round of golf with his best buddies.
Beloved husband of Shirley (nee Thomson), of Hanover. Father of Garry Litt (Jennifer) of Foleyet. Special grandfather of Kelly (André), Lori-Anne, Amanda (Nathan), Austin and great grandfather of many beautiful great grandchildren. Survived by his brother Gordon Litt (Judy), and his sister Ruthann Noble. Predeceased by his daughter, Sharon Litt (Pete Maloney), daughter in-law Cathy Litt, sisters Betty Stemler and Lois McGinn.
A Memorial Inurnment Service will be held at the Hanover Cemetery – Columbarium on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at 11am. There will also be a Celebration of Life at his homestead Red Pine Lodge (220 Red Pine Rd, Ivanhoe Lake Rd, Foleyet, ON P0M 1T0) on Sunday, August 21, 2022 from 2 – 4pm. All are welcome.
As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Hanover and District Hospital Foundation (www.hdhf.ca/aboutus.html) would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover.
