Obituary of Rufus Patrick McGilchrist
McGilchrist, Rufus “Scottie” – Dad was promoted to heaven Sunday morning May 1, 2022. He is now in the presence of Jesus who he loved and served, and is reunited with his wife, Ella whom he was married to for 69 years. Scottie was a long time member and honorary Deacon of Parkers Cove Baptist Church. He retired from Standard Paving Company after many years. He was a member of Gideon International, and was very active in church and community life. Scottie is survived by sons, Donald of Halls Harbour, Danny (Pat) of Bridgetown; daughter, Cheryl (Dale) Lloyd of Berwick; grandchildren, Andrea (Mike) Coolen and Scott (Lauren); great grandchildren, Ella Elizabeth and Madi Viola. He was predeceased by his wife, Ella; sisters, Mary Burnett, Helen Hamilton, Minnie Dawson, Jennie Cannon; brother, Harry. Special thanks to Dr. Ken Buchholz for his excellent care over the past 35 + years. A funeral service will be held 2pm Wednesday May 4, 2022, in the Parkers Cove Baptist Church, with Pastor Jeff George officiating. Burial will follow in Parkers Cove Cemetery. Family requests that everyone wear a mask. Donations in Scottie’s memory may be made to Teen Challenge, Gideon’s or Parkers Cove Baptist Church.
