It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rudy Klemenz, dearly beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather on Sunday, June 19, 2022, at the age of 87 years, surrounded by his family.
Rudy was predeceased by his parents Michael and Theresia and 14 siblings. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Ida of 59 years; their children Kim, Karen, Leroy and their families; Wendy, Kyle and Kaylee (Weston); Cam, Madison, Kira and Rylan. Rudy is also survived by one sister Mary; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Dad was the hardest working man you will ever meet. He worked countless hours and made many sacrifices to provide for his family. We are so proud and lucky to be part of his life and accomplishments and have so many great memories. He taught us so much on how to work, how to live and how to have fun. His kids and grandkids did not know at the time but he was teaching us in his own way how to be respectful, courteous and always pushed us to do our best. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered. Love from your family.
Rudy was the youngest of 16 children. He was raised on the family farm, north of Horizon, Saskatchewan. He started his working career in Toronto, Ontario, boxing chocolates (and likely eating a few :)). In 1958, he moved to Regina, Saskatchewan. He began working for Cairns Homes and built the first house foundation in the subdivision of Glencairn. In 1974, he started his own business, R. Klemenz Concrete Foundations where he built approximately 500 foundations in the city of Regina and surrounding area as a member of the Housing and Urban Development Association of Regina and Canada. In 1982, he semi-retired and worked for the Regina Catholic School Division and finally retired in 1996. He had a natural ability to figure out how things worked and he could fix anything. He enjoyed camping, fishing and reading. He was a superb gardener and grew vegetables and beautiful flowers, geraniums being his favorite. He had a love for music including country music and listening/dancing to the polka party. A special interest in cars and trucks led him to attend many shows with family. Being skilled in woodworking, he built several wood cabinets and toys for his grandchildren. Above all, his love for family and spending time with his grandchildren was his greatest joy, feeling very blessed to meet his great-grandson, Weston, earlier this year.
Rudy was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in 2003 with a 3-year life expectancy and was able to live for an extended period because of a great medical team and new advancing medications. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Kontsiotis, Dr. Belak, the many nurses and staff at the Regina Pasqua Hospital and Regina General Hospital as well as Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services for all your care and support. In memory of Rudy, friends so wishing may donate to the Canadian Lung Association or make a blood donation to Canadian Blood Services.
At his request, no funeral service will be held.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Rudolph Klemenz June 19th 2022..
