Rozell “Rosey” Churchill
Rozell “Rosey” Churchill, age 57, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 17, 2022 after a short battle with brain tumors. Born in March of 1965 to Olive and the late Roderick Hedderson, Rozell was born in St. Anthony, Newfoundland and grew up in Scarborough, Ontario with her sister and brother. She will be dearly missed by husband John, daughters Stephanie and Jessica (Caleb), mother Olive, sister Peggy (Paul), brother Roddy (Diane), nieces Tabitha (Jeremy), Rachel (Terrence), Sarah, Vanessa, and great-nephew Griffin.
Rozell was determined to be a Registered Nurse despite a lack of openings and studied at Centennial College graduating in 1987. She built her career as an occupational health nurse at the Toronto Zoo before moving on to registered nursing at Scarborough General, Peel Memorial, Brampton Civic, Headwaters, and Halton Hospitals. Her favourite department was Intensive Care and she made many years of her career in the Emergency Department before spending her final years nursing in the Day Surgery department. Her no-nonsense approach to nursing and incredible sense of humour made her a joy to work with and a comfort to each patient.
When not at the hospital saving lives, she could be found knitting with a good book, putting together a puzzle, or making gorgeous quilts for friends. During the summer she spent every available weekend out for a motorcycle ride or boating and waterskiing across incredible distances. Rozell was our calm and steady spirit that never wavered under stress and always looked for the solution in every situation. With a heart for serving others, she was active at Peel Pentecostal Tabernacle in children’s ministries, the media team, church choir, and almost any other way she could serve the Lord. She lived each day to the fullest with no fear to try something new, believing wholeheartedly that we are not promised tomorrow, so we better get out and make the most of today.
As missions held a special place in her heart, donations in memory of Rozell can be made to the Samaritan’s Purse: Operation Christmas Child Shoebox program. Flowers will be received at Peel Pentecostal Tabernacle. www.samaritanspurse.ca/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child/?sc=SD222DGAUR

Service will take place at Peel Pentecostal Tabernacle on Monday, March 21, 2022 at 11 AM. A livestream will be made available through the church’s website for those unable to attend.
