Obituary of Ross Andrew MacCulloch
Ross Andrew MacCulloch (July 26, 1964 – February 4, 2022)
With great sadness, the family of Ross Andrew MacCulloch, announce his passing on February 4, 2022. Ross was the loving husband of Dawn (nee Bronson) MacCulloch and devoted father of Logan and Allie. He was the son of Annie and Jim MacCulloch, Riverton; brother of Susan (Larry) Rosborough, and uncle to Christopher, Jake (Ashley), Luke (Becca), Taylor (Tim) and Maddy.
Ross lived his life with integrity. He always put his family first and loved being a dad and husband. He found great joy and pride in watching his children grow into young adults. He was skilled at giving them both roots and wings. He was an excellent listener and a wonderful storyteller with a dry sense of humour. He was a supportive and loyal friend.
Hockey was Ross’ passion. He loved it as a player, coach, and fan. He shared his love of the game as a coach in Westville, and was adamant that all players, regardless of skill level, had the same opportunities to contribute to the team. A die-hard Leaf fan, he was faithful even through the disheartening Ballard years.
Ross worked for MTT/Aliant/Bell for over 30 years and made some of his closest friends there. He loved the challenges of the job and took pride in effectively troubleshooting problems, but it was the connections he made with people that he valued the most.
Ross showed incredible strength and perseverance and never gave up on life even on his darkest days. Quit was not in his vocabulary.
The family would like to thank all those who supported them over the past three years: the Palliative Team at the Aberdeen Hospital whose care and compassion helped Ross maintain his quality of life through to the end, the VON RNs who supported him at home, the Oncology Team at the Aberdeen Hospital whose humour and kindness made some difficult days easier, the team at Shoppers Drug Mart New Glasgow who were always kind and understanding, family and friends who stayed in contact giving us much needed support from the side lines, and the neighbors, friends, and family who stepped in and helped when needed. We are grateful for you all.
Due to COVID restrictions, the family will hold a private celebration of Ross’ life and are requesting no flowers. There will be no visitation. In the spring, the family will hold a burial service and hopes to join with family and friends at that time.
Donations in Ross’ name may be made to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Society or the Pictou County VON.
