Tributes
Roslyn Mary Mann
It is with great sadness that her children announce the death of Roslyn Mary Mann, on August 22, at the age of 101, at her home in Ottawa. Predeceased in 2011 by her beloved husband of 66 years, Lloyd Arthur Mann. Dear mother of Elenna (Ted), Donald (Fiona) and Adrian. Grandmother of Ted Jr. (Nicole); Daniel, Elizabeth (Egidio), and Catherine (Rich); and great-grandmother to Ian and Ainsley, Jasper and Alistair, and Angelo and Oscar. Dear sister of Helen Bannard of Carp, Ontario.
Born April 7, 1921 in Ottawa, daughter of Herbert W. and Alma Sanderson, she grew up in the depression; fell in love with our father while working at Air Force Headquarters and married him on his safe return from World War II; and during the next 30 years was a devoted wife and dedicated (and strict!) mother to her three children. In later life, with her children grown, she and our father lived contentedly together, enjoying their condo by the Ottawa river, wonderful trips to faraway places, winters in Florida, and their beloved cat Holly. In the years after our father’s death, while she missed him deeply and constantly, she maintained a lively interest in current events, dressed elegantly, kept her sense of humour as well as her dignity and independence and, as mothers will, still worried about the welfare of her long-since-grown children.
The family would like to thank the staff, especially the nurses and PSWs, of Valley Stream Manor for their kind and devoted care of our mother, through the last 12 years of her life, including a bout with Covid-19.
The family will hold a private ceremony at a later date.
Goodbye, Mother. Your work is done, your children are well and safe, and we always remember your advice to drive carefully. You can rest well now.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Roslyn Mary Sanderson Mann April 7 1921 August 22 2022 (age 101)..
