Obituary of Rose Elliot Lafortune
Rose Elliot Lafortune
December 14, 1929 – August 4, 2022
Rose was born in Nanton, Alberta to Charlie and Daisy Waddell.
She was the second youngest of 12 children. Rose spoke fondly of her childhood, growing up on a farm with a large family.
After her time in high school, she took a secretarial course and got her first job in Kimberley.
Shortly after moving to Kimberley she met and married Roy LaFortune in 1949.
Together they raised six children; Greg, Diane, Chuck, Barrie, Janice and Murray, in the house that Roy built in Meadowbrook.
Rose was a loving and devoted mother, “The glue that held the family together”
Roy and Rose were married for 68 years when Roy passed away in 2017.
Rose was a committed Christian and part of Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church for nearly 50 years.
She is survived by one sister, 6 children, 18 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
We are so sad to say goodbye to her. She was and always will be a rare Rose.
