Obituary of Rose Doherty
Rose passed away the way she lived, so peacefully into the arms of her loving Savior at the Dr. John Gillis Memorial Lodge on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at the age of 79 years.
Rose gave her whole heart to her family and community. Rose was educated as a teacher and later worked as an accountant. She was beloved wife to Vernon, mother to Larry (Connie), Mike (Cheryl) and Sherri (Robert Sharkie). Wonderful Nan to Gillian, Kristin, Travis, Amanda, Evan, Maeryn, Eira, Paisley, Presley and Jackson. Sister of Richard (Lorraine, deceased), Edna (Merlin Quinn, deceased), Betty (Patrick Hill, deceased), Joan (Ted Norris). Fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. She volunteered with the Women’s Institute, CWL, Community School, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Rails to Trails, LOVE (Let Older Volunteers Educate) all the while devoting her life to her faith and church in so many ways. Rose was predeceased by her parents John N. and Mary Genevieve (MacMillan) Praught and by her brother Alban Peter.
A private visitation will be held at the Hillsboro Funeral Home, Stratford. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30 am from St. Joachim’s Church, Vernon River. All are invited to attend. Interment in the church cemetery.
The wearing of masks is strongly recommended for attending these services.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
Rose’s family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to the staff of the Dr. John Gillis Memorial Lodge for the wonderful care and attention shown to Rose.
