Rose Clermont Wilson 1922 2022

Obituary for
Rose Clermont (Wilson)
CLERMONT, Rose (1922-2022)
Rose (née Rozalie Wilson) Clermont was born April 14, 1922, to a large immigrant family who settled on Baird’s Row, Blantyre, Scotland. She passed at the Golden Manor in Timmins Ontario on January 6th, on her way to reunite with her parents, Agata (Milauskute) and Gorgi Valonas Wilson, her eleven siblings, her former husband Don Clermont and her only son, Robert.
She is survived by her children, Phyllis Clermont, Toronto; Irene Clermont, Timmins; Ann Clermont McGee (John), Horseshoe Valley; her seven grandchildren, Shaun Clermont (Vanessa), James Chaput (Tina), Sarah Lamoureux (Michel), Jonathan McGee (Madoka), Justin McGee, Chaz McKay-Clermont, and Andrew Chénier-Clermont; and her great-grandchildren Siann and Vohn Milan, Chase and Mila Chaput, Seth Clermont and Hana and Noah McGee.
During WWII, Rose, supported the war effort in many ways. She was among the many young women who worked in textiles specifically targeted to be made into parachutes. Rose met her husband, Don Clermont, while he was stationed in Scotland. As a war bride, she immigrated to Canada and settled in Timmins Ontario where she was blessed with four children.
Rose loved romance novels, horse racing, singing and old black and white movies. We will miss her delicious family dinners, her warmth, and her playful nature. She was a good, caring, and supportive mother.
Rose moved to Toronto and worked for many years at the world-class Arcadian Court (in the former Simpson’s on Queen Street). There she was well-known and loved by all. During the many years she lived in Toronto she shared her time and love with her companion, Darcy Blaze Valliant.
In the later years of her life, she returned to Timmins and entered care at the Golden Manor. The family wishes to thank the administration for their stellar work in keeping covid out of the Golden Manor. A special thank you to Dr. Auger, to Nurse Practitioner Debbie Kapias and to all PSWs on Ward West 1 for their outstanding and compassionate care.
The family also thanks her roommate Gilberte Gervais, who shared first with her at theTimmins and District Hospital. Gilberte looked out for Rose, rang the bell for her and shared the Lawrence Welk Show on TV. They enjoyed chocolates and talked throughout the night until they both no longer could.
At the Manor, Rose was also cared for by her daughter, Irene. Irene regularly visited and cheered her up with home-cooked meals, songs and music, special treats and hours and hours of reading. Irene made sure that Rose was always warm and snug and that she had her favourite snack of tea and toast.
Rose will be dearly missed by her family and always remembered as quite a lady! She will be remembered by her many nieces, nephews and relatives in all corners of the world from the USA, Scotland, England, Poland and Lithuania.
Me staves pasiilgsime ir visada mylesime.
A private celebration of life will take place in the future. Donations may be made in her name to the Golden Manor, Timmins, Ontario. The funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
