Zamorski, Rose
April 30, 1922 – January 23rd, 2022
After a life well-lived and just 3 months shy of her 100th birthday Rose passed away on Sunday January 23rd, 2022 at 9:30 p.m. at The Meadows LTC Home. Predeceased by her parents Daniel and Helen McGinlay, her beloved husband of 68 years Kordian “Jacek” Zamorski (June 2014) and her sisters Margaret (1952), Theresa (2016), and Magdalene (2020). Survived by her sister Helen Friell in Scotland and her large extended family of nieces and nephews scattered throughout Canada and the UK. Rose will be sadly missed by her nephew Anthony McLaughlin who always referred to her as his second mother and she thought of him, as her son. His wife Patricia had the pleasure of attending to her the last 8 weeks. Every day she greeted with “it’s a beautiful day”.
Due to the outbreak of Omicron only essential caregivers were allowed to visit which kept her isolated and alone. Rose was especially fond of her great-great-nephew, Hunter. Unable to visit during this recent outbreak of COVID he often spoke to her on Facetime. Even on the days that were a little darker, it brought her such joy and made her smile! Since the time Hunter was 2 years old, he would visit Uncle Jacek weekly at The Meadows. In the early years at the nursing home, Aunt Rose would race him down the hallway with her walker laughing. This from a woman that was 91 years old!
Aunt Rose was an articulate, gregarious, fun-loving lady and before COVID went to mass every Saturday. Afterwards she would enjoy a meal at some of her favorite restaurants, especially The Cat and Fiddle accompanied by a “wee glass” of white. Her faith and love of God was rock-solid it never wavered it sustained her throughout her life. Often when we visited, we would find her sitting in her chair by the window, with her rosary, saying prayers.
The last two years especially hard because of the restrictions in place at the nursing home. She loved to talk to everyone and was especially happy surrounded by her family and friends. Anthony and Patricia would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at The Meadows LTC Home especially Dr. Douglas, Samantha, Sara and Linda. Your devotion to aunt rose is deeply appreciated.
In lieu of flowers a donation to St. Charles Garnier Church, the church she and Jacek grew and attended for many years would be much appreciated.
