With profound sadness and heavy hearts we announce our cherished Rose passed away with family at her side on Sunday, April 24, 2022.
Rosie shared her life with family and friends in Ontario and Cape Breton, for the last while living with her brother, Bob (Julia) in Newmarket, ON.
Rosie was an accomplished business woman with several businesses and was an award winning Real Estate Agent. She enjoyed life to its fullest, riding horses (with many trophies), running, music, dancing, concerts, travel and time with family and friends.
Rosie’s beauty glowed, both inside and out, she shared her love and support for others willingly and graciously. She believed you could never do enough for animal rescue (her pets were either abandoned or strays), helping people, friends, and even strangers. She was never shy to start up a conversation with anyone, share an opinion, tell a funny story, pat or cuddle any animal.
Our beloved Rosie was recently diagnosed with the debilitating disease MSA that took her far too soon. There is not a lot known about this disease and Rosie was planning to shine a light on it to promote research and earlier detection. Rosie was a loving and generous person. An organ donor in death, she gave life and a second chance to a number of people she didn’t even know.
Rosie was born in Sydney, NS. She was predeceased by her loving parents, Walter A. Crane and Philomena “Phyllis” (Ryan) Crane and siblings, Bonnie Crane and Walter P. Crane.
Left with treasured memories are her sisters, Barbara (Bob) Cowieson, ON, Sharon Crane (Billy McKinnon), Cape Breton and Darlene (Tommy) Morris, Cape Breton; brother, Bob (Julia) Crane, ON; sister-in-law, Fran Crane, Cape Breton; niece, Monica (Darrell) Crane-Spracklin, AB; nephews, Scott (Jen) Cowieson, ON, Ryan Cowieson, ON and Riley (Mallory) Morris, NL.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Friday May 13 from 4-7 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Saturday May 14 at 11 a.m.
In honour of Rosie, as she would, please do an act of kindness and/or donation to a charity of choice.
Words of comfort can be sent to the family at www.sydneymemorialchapel.ca or e-mail sydneymemorialchapel@ns.sympatico.ca
Rosie’s life was a blessing, her memory a treasure. She is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. We Love you Rosie.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Rose Marie Crane 2022..
Death notice for the town of: Sydney, Province: Nova Scotia
I am so sad to hear about Rose.
What a wonderful soul. I was a neighbor on Lord Simcoe and knew Rose for many years
I used to really enjoy our chats when Rose walked by while walking the dog
I am sorry that I didn’t get a chance to say goodbye when she moved but I know she had her challenges and was not well
RIP Rose
No more suffering, until we meet again
Love Bruce & Mary
For the group of us that went on the Get the He** Out of Dodge weekends it was an unwritten rule that “what happens in Collingwood, stays in Collingwood”. But the stories had subtle ways of coming out, and became the definitive of those trips. And so many of them involved Rose. From the HatMan game, to dance, Donkey, DANCE, lipstick kiss marks on all our cheeks (affectionately called Rose Tracks) and my favourite No, Rose, NO!
Every one of those stories brings a smile to my face and now every memory of Sweet Rosie will also make me smile but now with a wee tear in my eye.
We all loved you in different ways Rosie. I wish comfort to your family, who’s loss is unimaginable. I hope this silly stories of the fun we had together brings a smile to your faces and a warm spot in your heart. Godspeed Rosie xoxo
