Rose Marie Burns (Grattan)
August 30, 1937 – September 27, 2022
It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Rose Marie Burns, wife of the late William (Bill) Burns, of Miramichi, NB at Miramichi Regional Hospital on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at the age of 85.
Born in Doyle’s Brook, Rose Marie was the daughter of the late Harry and Mary Ellen (Walsh) Grattan. Rose Marie was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church. She was retired after a thirty-two-year career with Canada Post (Newcastle Post Office).
Rose Marie was a loving wife to Bill, and the two were rarely seen without each other. They enjoyed walking, stopping to join friends for coffee and being with family. She was a person of strong faith and a believer in the power of prayer. She could be found each day saying her rosary for all her many special intentions. Rose Marie was devoted to her family. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She would never miss a hockey, baseball, ringette game or a music recital and was so proud of all their accomplishments. Oh, how she adored her little great grandson, Otto.
Rose Marie liked tending to her flowers, playing cards, and bowling with her lady friends. She appreciated her Tim Horton’s coffee, blueberry muffins and regular lunches at the Kingsway. She loved shopping and had a great eye for fashion. She frequently attended the Miramichi Timberwolves hockey games and music nights at Ritchie Wharf. She enjoyed spending time with family at the cottage in Oak Point. She was a die-hard Maple Leafs fan with Darryl Sittler and Doug Gilmour being her all-time favourite players.
Rose Marie will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by son Gordon (Carla) of Miramichi, NB; daughter Judy Saunders (Tim) of Miramichi, NB; grandchildren, Spencer (Lauren) Burns of Fredericton, NB; Tessa Burns of Fredericton, NB; Stephanie Saunders (Chris ) of New Glasgow, NS; great grandson Otto Burns of Fredericton, NB; sister, Alice Loubert (Nathan) of London, ON; brother, Reg Grattan (Mona) of Doyle’s Brook, NB; sisters- in-law; Theresa Regan of Miramichi, NB; Barb Regan of Miramichi, NB; Shirley Burns of Miramichi NB; Monica Hovey of Plaster Rock NB; Anna Curtis of Moncton, NB; brothers-in-law, Leo Burns (Susan) of Fredericton, NB; Donald Burns (Joan) of Sillikers, NB; and many nieces and nephews.
