Rosalinda Dumdumaya Arcangel Andersen
Loving wife, mother, grand mother, hobby gardener, daycare operator, friend to all.
Died: November 16, 2022.
Seventh born of 11 siblings to parents Arceli and Julia Arcangel.
Siblings: Nancy A. Contindo; Fe A. Caballero; Shirley A. Villones (deceased); Henry Arcangel (deceased); Haide A. Pacobilangnan (deceased); Erna A. Cobita (deceased); Linda Andersen (deceased); Nelia A. Bilbao; Nenita A. Sooksenee; Nestor Arcangel; Ernesto Arcangel Jr.
Linda grew up in the small village of Sitio Panaosawon E. B. Magalona , Negros Occidental Philippines. Although quite poor, Linda’s parents, Arceli and Julia Arcangel (deceased), were always able, through hard work, to provide for the large family. After graduating High School, Linda successfully completed training as a midwife at a college in Bacolod (*capital of Negros Occidental) . Linda was hired by a local sugar baron (haciendero) family and, specifically, Jaime Silverio prior to the birth of his son, Juan Carlos. After the delivery, Linda worked for approximately 6 years as a live-in caregiver for Juan Carlos. When the Silverio family immigrated to Richmond, BC, Canada, Linda quickly immigrated as well.
It was at the Silverio home in Richmond, that Linda met her future husband and best friend Martin Andersen. There was a one year courtship, followed by a one year engagement, before the happy couple married at Saint Joseph the Worker Church in Richmond on May 26, 1984. Linda and Martin then went on an extended honeymoon to Hawaii, Japan, Hong Kong and finally to Sitio Panaosawon where Martin met Linda’s parents and much of the immediate and extended family.
Upon their return to Canada, Linda and Martin started their new life together in Burnaby B.C. and later moved to South Surrey. Their first born child, Michael, was born September 25, 1985 followed by Peter on May 17, 1987.
Linda successfully operated a busy daycare out of the family home in South Surrey for approximately 18 years. Linda was a wonderfully loving, yet tough (TOUGH LOVE !!!!!!) mother to her two sons Michael and Peter.
As well as being fully involved with the raising of Michael and Peter, and the boy’s many extracurricular activities, and operating her daycare, Linda always found time to be a loving wife. Linda kept both her home and the extensive gardens in immaculate condition. So much so that many people asked Linda how she managed to do it all.
The Catholic church was always an important aspect of Linda’s life.
After selling the 144 street home in South Surrey, Linda and newly retired Martin, moved to their new home in Summerfield, South Surrey. It was in Summerfield that Linda became semi-famous for her regular hosting of the Filipina ladies group Christmas and birthday celebratory gatherings.
In 2009 for the Silver Anniversary of Martin and Linda’s wedding, the couple went to the Philippines and celebrated their anniversary and formally renewed their vows with many of Linda’s family present for the ceremony, in the neighbouring city of Silay.
Travelling adventures first with Martin, Michael and Peter, and later as a couple with Martin were one of Linda’s passions. Whether driving throughout the western United States, much of British Columbia, and parts of Alberta in the family camper van, or flying around the world going to exotic destinations or also on ocean cruises, travelling was important to Linda. Sadly a bucket list of destinations was cut short by Linda’s un-timely death.
Family was everything to Linda. Her loving spirit will be commemorated for years to come.
Linda was so very proud of her two sons, Michael and Peter. The additions to the greater family of the four grandchildren ( Chase, Brooks, Madden, and Quinn ) made Linda so happy.
Both boys married and gave beloved grandchildren to Linda and Martin. Michael and Tanis’s first child, Chase was born August 16, 2015, followed by Brooks, July 29, 2017, and Madden, October 23, 2019. Peter and his wife Beckie presented Linda with a granddaughter, Quinn, on October 23, 2020.
The grandchildren were Linda’s pride and joy. It was Linda’s most fervent wish to see her grandchildren grow up, graduate and marry. Sadly, cancer took away Linda’s wish.

Linda had such a beautiful heart… with a smile and a friendly hello, she always had room for one more. Family was everything to Linda. Her loving spirit will be commemorated for years to come.
Generosity of possessions, time and personality was forever evident in all she did.
As so aptly put by her Filipina circle of friends, “Linda is the glue that keeps us together“
Linda never sought out the limelight. Rather, she always preferred the background role.
Linda was a “Superstar” to all who really knew her.
May she rest in eternal peace, with her predeceased family and friends in the comforting love and care of her Saviour Jesus Christ.
Linda will be sorely missed.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Rosalinda Dumdumaya Arcangel Andersen March 12 1951 November 16 2022..
