Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that the family of Rosa Colautti (nee Turgeon) announces her bittersweet passing on August 31, 2022. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Piergiorgio Colautti and her sisters, Laurette, Marguerite and Yvette, she is survived by her children, D’Ana (Domenic Schiavone) and Pier; her grandchildren, Dante and Mia Schiavone and her sister, Delia Cauvier.
Rosa was born and raised in Astorville, Ontario and it was in this rural environment that she developed a love for all animals, great and especially small. She allowed her children to bring home stray cats, dogs, mice and even rats that she welcomed into her home with open arms. A prolific reader, she was a fan of science fiction, fantasy and a good murder mystery, instilling a love of reading in her children. Rosa also enjoyed the company of young children and relished telling them humourous stories from her childhood. Rosa was a lover of red wine all foods sweet, but stayed fit by walking several kilometers each day, rarely using a vehicle to get from point A to B even when she had to carry heavy items. Rosa was also a proud participant in the Red Hat Society.
After the death of her husband later in life, Rosa developed Alzheimer’s and gradually lost her ability to live independently. Even though her daily living skills declined, she never lost her love of good food and a glass of red wine.
The family would like to thank the staff of Cassellholme for the quality of care provided to Rosa and the Emergency and Palliative care nurses and physicians at the NBRHC for their compassion. Your efforts are appreciated.
There will be a private family gathering to celebrate Rosa’s life. A donation to the NBRHC’s palliative care unit will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy. Online condolences may be made at www.mcguintyfuneralhome.com
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Rosa Turgeon Colautti March 7 1944 August 31 2022 (age 78)..
