The family of Ronald Matheson Thomson sadly announce his passing on Saturday, September 3, 2022.
Ron was born and raised in Thunder Bay and lived his entire life here. He attended local schools and Queen’s University. He was active in many community groups and activities, Kiwanis, IOOF, Thunder Bay Yacht Club, Canadian Power Squadron, Lakehead Search and Rescue, to name a few. His church, St. Paul’s United, was an important part of his life. He was a man of faith.
Ron lived a long and interesting life, was passionate about sailing, and recently celebrated his 98th birthday.
Ron is survived by his daughter Cyndy, son-in-law Mike and granddaughter Katie Raby, his step-daughter Heather Bilodeau, grandson Stuart, (Karla and gr. granddaughter Estelle), granddaughter Hannah (Chris), step-daughter Mary Ann McKenzie, (Roy, Meghan and Scott). Many cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
Predeceased by son Stephan (infancy) wife Goldie, parents, Frank and Kathleen, sister Everell. Second wife Virginia (Ginny), step-daughter Susan Ritchie, son-in-law Don Bilodeau.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 9, 2022, at 11:00 am St. Paul’s United church on Waverley Street. Those unable to attend in person may view the service virtually by using the link www.trinityunited.church. Service will be co-led by Rev. Desire Tiriwepi and Rev. Rob Smith. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to St. Paul’s United Church, or a charity of your choice. On-line condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.
