Ronald Mervin Stevens, born April 7, 1933 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully at home, at the age of 89, in Surrey, British Columbia on November 20, 2022.
As a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce, and all his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his six children: Wayne (Charlene), Angela (Tony), Paul (Susanne), Wendy (Tony), Mary (Scott), and Steven; his ten grandchildren: Justin (Maria), Whitney (Sheldon), Cory (Sophie), Leah (Dan), Luke (Emily), Peter, Robyn (Colton), Dean (Jessica), Simon, and Ryan; and his two great-grandchildren: Flynn and Evelyn.
As a hardworking man with 33 years of work experience and 33 years of retired years, he spent many years taking the family camping, exploring the wilderness and visiting historical sites. In his retired years, he made a couple of trips across Canada, exploring and visiting family. He supported his wife in preparing her vegetable and flower gardens at their home in Surrey. He spent 63 years at this property, building the house and every outbuilding, and planting every single tree, making it a welcoming place to be raised, and for his grandchildren to enjoy on their visits.
The family would like to express their thanks to the many caregivers who assisted him in his final months at home.
Services will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022 in the chapel at Gardens of Gethsemani Cemetery at 15694 32nd Ave, Surrey, BC. Viewing will be at 1:00 pm, followed by prayers at 1:30, and burial at 2:00 pm.
