Ronald Marshall Monday January 24th 2022

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald James Marshall.
Born in Brighton, Ontario, on January 23,1938 and died on January 24th, 2022. Yes, Ron, you really did turn 84. Ron died at Ajax Pickering Hospital after a lengthy battle with COPD, Emphysema and Pneumonia. Thankfully, he was free of Covid. The family is grateful to the medical staff at the Ajax-Pickering Hospital who cared for Ron during his final weeks.
Ron was the loving married partner of Tom Tomlinson (deceased). Beloved son of Noel and Doris Marshall (deceased). Dear Brother of Ted (deceased), David (Nancy) of Cobourg, Ontario and Heather (Dave) of Nanaimo, British Columbia. He was well loved by his nephews, Sean of Florida and Deryl (Jill) of Pickering, Ontario and Shane (Natalie) of Toronto, Ontario and his nieces, Sarah (Luke) and Lindsay (Blake) of Nanaimo, British Columbia.
Ron worked as a floral designer for many years in Toronto and designed the windows during the Christmas season at Simpsons and then The Bay. When he retired, he continued to create flower arrangements as gifts for family and friends, a rare talent that we all admired.
In 1980, Ron met Tom and for 30 years, his life was full of love, adventures and travel and moving. Their cottage on Pigeon Lake was the site of the annual Tom-Mar Family Reunion. After they both retired, Ron and Tom lived at their renovated cottage; later they moved to Peterborough, and eventually to St. Catharines to be close to friends. On June 2nd, 1997 after 27 years together, Ron and Tom celebrated their love with a formal wedding ceremony and reception. When Tom was beginning to experience health issues, the two relocated to Port Hope to be closer to family.
After Tom’s passing, Ron moved back to St. Catharines. Eventually, loneliness and distance from family took its toll and Ron decided to move back to Pickering where Deryl and Jill welcomed him into their home. Eventually, Ron was able to move into his own senior apartment in Oshawa. As his chronic respiratory health became critical, he needed more support and care. In July, 2021 Ron moved into a Long-Term Care Facility in Pickering. He was so grateful to find a place where he could ride his scooter to visit and spend time with Deryl and Jill.
A private service will be planned in the spring.
Ron, you will be missed. Rest in peace Brother, Uncle and Friend.
