Obituary
Ron passed away at Hillside Village. Prior to that he had lived with his sister and family in Salmon Arm. Predeceased by his parents, Mary and Earl Genier; sons, Ronal and Andrew; first wife Irene (Janicki); and partner Virginia Reed. He is survived by his sister, Mern (Rod) Gerow and family of Salmon Arm; brother Noel, of Penticton; four children, Shawn (Brad), Jacqueline, Sierra, and Roger (Maria); five grandchildren, Cole, Tyson, Taylor, Alexis (Damion), and Chad; one great grandchild, Mackaye; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Ron grew up on the Genier farm in Lumby, farming, milking cows, hunting, and fishing. Ron decided he wanted to drive truck. His first truck bought in 1959 started the Legend. Known as Junior, Old Black, Skinner, Francis and many other names. He had many trucks with many names on his Reineg Trucking Trucks. Ron’s Doberman, Pinch, rode shotgun and many wondered who was boss. Ron could have a full beard or be clean shaven. Tough on the outside but soft on the inside. He was 100% committed to whatever was happening, playing ball, fishin’, hunting, heckling, talking with his fists, helping a friend or stranger, telling a story, playing crib, being the best big brother. He declared himself unofficially unelected mayor of Golden.
He will be missed by family and many friends. He had a warm heart and beautiful smile. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Club Shuswap Golf Resort, 5751 TCH N.E., Canoe, V0E 1K0.
