Roland’s Obituary
SURETTE, Roland Michael – age 60, Pinkney’s Point, Yarmouth Co., died suddenly on December 31, 2021. Born July 14, 1961 in Yarmouth, he was the son of Yvonne (Clairmont) Surette and the late Lindsay Surette. Aside from his mother, Yvonne, he is survived by brothers, Lindsaye (Margie VanMerlin), Glenn Surette, Terence (Carol) Surette, Jonathan (Nicole) Surette; sisters, Stephanie (Gregory) DeViller and Jennifer (Eric) Burns; son, Michael Roland Surette; step-daughter, Brooke Lee Gavel; grandson, Alex Grayden Surette and step-granddaughters, Madison, Ezria, Vadalee Gavel and many nieces and nephews. Besides his father, he was predeceased by his brother, Adam Surette and his common-law partner, Rose Gavel, with whom he had found such happiness. Roland was a fisherman his entire working life and he loved the outdoors, hunting, boating, fishing and four-wheeling. He also loved woodworking, having built many things for himself and others. His favorite things in life were his grandkids – they brought him much joy and he loved to spoil them. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and celebrating his life and everyone else’s, especially with his best bud, Willy Saulnier – they were inseparable. He was kind, funny and generous and he will be loved and missed. Cremation has taken place under the direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth and there will be no visitation. Burial will take place at a later date. Donations in memory of Roland may be made to the IWK Hospital Foundation.
