Dad was born in Springdale, Newfoundland and worked as a certified carpenter all of his life. He was a superb carpenter and was never satisfied unless the job was perfect. His always used to say, “A job worth doing is worth doing well.” He loved being a carpenter. He often joked that he wondered what he should choose as a career but when he became a carpenter he, “hit the nail right on the head.” He could never be a garbage man because he would be “down in the dumps all the time.” Such an unbelievable sense of humour and was always quick with a witty comeback. Most importantly, he was a man of God. He loved the Lord all his life, raised his kids in a Godly home, and taught us to love Him as well. He married the love of his life in 1964 when he was only 19 years old. “Till death do us part”, were not just words; it was a commitment. Mom and Dad lived that commitment for almost 58 years, he passed away with Mom’s arms wrapped around him.
In 1978 he made the move to Alberta to find work and lived there for the rest of his life. Dad loved to laugh but you rarely saw him laugh in the usual way. He laughed with his eyes. He would tell a joke and you could see that twinkle in his eyes. You saw that twinkle in his eyes a lot when he was with his grandkids. He loved to be with them. He and Mom would often take them camping, quadding or fishing. In April of 2010 he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma. He fought hard and went into remission twice but finally went to his rest on Sept 25, 2022. What a life he lived and we loved him so very much. Rest easy Dad. Till we meet again.
“Too well-loved to be forgotten”
